Wild Turkey Sloppy Joes

Wild Turkey Sloppy Joes

This Wild Turkey Sloppy Joes recipe will have you reading with a growling stomach by the time you finish. Wild Turkey Sloppy Joes are one of Team Member Bobby McCready's favorite fixins' after he's got it done in the turkey woods! We want to give a big thanks to Bobby for sharing his recipe with the Hunt Lift Eat Community.

Ingredients:

1-yellow onion

1-bell pepper

1-1 1/2 pounds ground wild turkey

1- packet sloppy joe mix

1- packet taco seasoning (hot or mild)

1- can tomato paste

1- small can green chilis 4oz (I used Trader Joe’s)

Salt- to taste

Pepper- to taste

Instructions:

Add 1tbs of butter, diced peppers, and onions in a cast iron pan. Once they're all added, you'll need to brown them for about 5 minutes or until onions are translucent. Then, add salt and pepper to taste. I also added a small amount of adobe and it turned out great. If you have some, I'd recommend using it! If not, don't sweat it!

Add in turkey until cooked through, breaking up as needed. Once cooked, add the can of chiles to mixture. Let simmer for about 2-3 minutes.

In the meantime, mix together your taco seasoning and sloppy joe mix with 1 cup of water and stir until all clumps are gone.

Add water mixture into pan and let simmer for 5 minutes, mix well.

Now add can of tomato paste and mix well again, let sit for another 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and serve on brioche bun.

ENJOY!

As always, thank you for being a part of the Hunt Lift Eat Community and reading along! Now, get that turkey you killed this Spring out of the freezer and get to cooking!
